Deacon John Carter
Deacon John Carter was ordained by Bishop Gregory Parkes in 2017 and serves at both the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle and St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Petersburg. He currently co-leads Adult Faith Formation at the Cathedral and was recently appointed Pastoral Associate at St. Joseph, where he oversees parish activities and pastoral care.
Deacon John holds a Master of Theology from Saint Leo University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. He continues to practice law part-time after selling his law firm in 2022.
He and his wife Charmaine entered the Catholic Church in 2006, and their three children were baptized that Easter Vigil. Together, they lead OCIA, Adult Confirmation, and GriefShare ministries.
Deacon John also serves as Associate Chaplain for the African and Black Catholic Community in the Diocese of St. Petersburg.
